Who we are

SKYNET runs the SKYNET-AP network service, the resident page at wifi-login.skynetap.com and this website, from Tarkwa, Western Region, Ghana. This page explains what we collect from residents and from visitors to this website, and what we do with it. Where it says “we”, it means SKYNET. Write to info@skynetap.com with any question about it.

Signing in with Google

You do not have to use Google. An email address and password work just as well. If you do choose Google, the sign-in is handled by Clerk, our sign-in provider, and Google asks your permission first.

We ask Google for two things:

  • Your email address, and whether Google has checked it. If it has not, we refuse the sign-in.
  • Your name.

We store your email address, your name, and an identifier that lets us recognise you next time. We never see your Google password. Clerk keeps its own record of the sign-in, which can include your Google profile photo, but our systems do not store it. We cannot see your contacts, Gmail, Drive, calendar or anything else in your Google account. We use all of this only to create your account and sign you in. We never sell it, use it for adverts, or use it to train artificial intelligence.

If you already have a SKYNET-AP account with the same email address, signing in with Google connects to that account instead of making a second one. You can disconnect SKYNET-AP at any time in your Google account, under Third-party apps and services. To delete what we already hold, write to info@skynetap.com.

SKYNET-AP's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

What we collect

  • Your account: your email address, your name, and your password, which we store scrambled so nobody can read it.
  • Your Mobile Money number, to take payment. We confirm it with a code before charging you.
  • Your devices, so your phone or laptop reconnects without signing in again.
  • Your usage: when you connected, for how long and how much data you used. This is how your plan is counted.
  • Your payments: the amount, the plan and whether it went through.
  • Your sign-ins, so we can spot someone trying to get into your account.
  • What you send us: the text, voice notes and screenshots you attach when you report a problem.

We do not log the websites you visit and we do not look at what you send or receive.

Why we hold it

To give you the internet you paid for, to take payment, to sign you in and keep your account safe, to answer your complaints, and to pay the hostel its share.

Who can see it

Staff at the hostel you bought from can see your account, plan, payments, devices and complaints, so they can help you. They cannot see residents of any other hostel, and every change they make to your account is recorded.

We also share what is needed with the companies that make the service work: Hubtel and Paystack for payments, Clerk for sign-in, Brevo for email, and our hosting providers. We do not sell your information to anyone.

How long we keep it

Your devices are remembered for thirty days. Payment records are kept as long as the law requires. Everything else is kept while your account exists. Voice notes and screenshots you send with a complaint are stored privately, are not deleted automatically, and we will delete them if you ask.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to close your account and delete it, apart from records the law says we must keep. Write to info@skynetap.com.

Children

SKYNET-AP is for residents of student hostels. It is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
